The Share of Oneself- Inspect Yourself O Practicing Muslim!

A-pure-heart-in-Islam-1024x683

By Dr Eyad Qunaibi

There is something noticeable in alot of us who are assumed to be practicing Muslims; when we abandon what we were used to from the forbidden things like songs, non-conservative relationships between guys and girls etc., then do the external acts of practicing e.g. beard, Hijab etc. without first passing through the stations of true purification, then the “share of our souls” will remain with us!

This share of our souls which used to drive you in the past to the apparent known sins will now search for a new outlet in your personality to make your practicing deficient. Sometimes even making it empty practicing of Islam. The share of your soul will manifest itself in a different way.

In the past you would satisfy the share of your soul by listening to music and looking at forbidden things. Today, after “practicing”, you satisfy the share of your soul by showing off and seeking fame through the Religion which you are externally practicing or by means of carelessly backbiting people or belittling them on the basis that you are the caretaker and defender of the Islam, or carelessness in people’s rights on the basis that you are more worthy of what you took from their money since you are serving Islam whereas they waste their money on things with no benefit.

She used to satisfy the share of her soul by openly displaying herself. Today after she covered her head she satisfies the share of her soul by tightening clothes, adorning herself and being less conservative in her relationship with the men around her.

The problem is that when all this happens we drug our conscious whenever it tries to wake up and we say to it
“I am okay, and the evidence for that is that I left listening to music and watching wrong things for the sake of Allah. I grew my beard and endured the negative perception of society towards me and I sacrificed for the sake of Allah.” That is correct, he did that for the sake of Allah but he didn’t get rid of the share of his soul, so it looked for a different outlet to make up for what he sacrificed !

Ponder the condition of the Khawarij; the ones who the Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said ” You will look down upon your prayers, fasting and actions, in comparison to theirs.” Their worship in what is apparent is more than the companions but their downfall was that they didn’t get rid of the share of evil in their souls.
Ibn Kathir said:
(The first innovation that occurred in Islam was the trial of the khawarij and their beginning was because of something worldly. It was when the Messenger of Allah (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was distributing the war booty of Hunain. Their corrupt brains made them deluded into thinking that he (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wasn’t being just in his distribution. They shocked him with their saying where one of the khawarij called Thu Alkhuaisira said “Be just, verily you have not done justice”).

This is their calamity! They didn’t purify their souls from its share even though they had many acts of worship. Their souls manifested the evil in it by feeling superior to the people and making people blood and money lawful. Otherwise, Allah is more merciful than misguiding a people who sought for the truth and were sincerely devoted to it.

My brother, my sister. Search yourself! Has it become devoid of its share? Know that uprightness is not real until you have gotten rid of this share and you are certain of the mercy of Allah that He will replace it with sweetness and faith like the one written in the hearts of the companions of Mohamed (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)

(Those – He has decreed within their hearts faith and supported them with spirit from Him) (Surat Al-Mujadilah, Verse 22 in translation)

Opportunities

IMG_1943

Every time and opportunity to please Allah passes before you, grab it and make full use of it. Such opportunities are a blessing from Allah which he presents before His selected servants. Do not be a fool by letting it pass before your eyes.

Some opportunities stay for a while, but most come and go very quickly. Always be on the look out for them so that none is missed. Be aware of the rewards of good actions, so that you will be eager to do them, and will not hesitate once they present themselves before you.

Some opportunities come often in your life, but the really life-changing ones often come only a few times. The next time an opportunity to obey Allah passes before you, take it! It could be your ticket to Jannah…

Please excuse me, O love of my life.

Please excuse me, O love of my life.

You have always been a mother of mercy.

Forgive me for the errors of my days,

And pardon me for that phase.

I know that I have wounded your heart,

Since I frequently experience the same dart.

But Paradise is calling me to conquer my fears

Thus I flew across the sea leaving you in tears…

Please excuse me, and don’t say

That I separated myself from you to play.

How is it that I separated my soul

From the one who kept me from the cold?

How is it that I make you cry,

When you are the one most precious to my soul and eye?

You are more precious than the day which my heart loves

As the thought of you gathers the most beautiful doves.

If you knew all the facts

You would certainly relax.

So lend me your compassion,

As I explain myself in succinct words of expression.

Mother, the Muslim’s humiliation is called peace,

And the heedless Rulers have put the Ummah up for a lease.

Mother, the Regimes of Sabotage have gathered on our land,

Sinking our Ummah’s nobility to that of sand.

Mother, Palestine is the little child under the rubble,

And her grieving mother can only be heard in a bubble.

Mother, I can’t let this humiliation continue,

Allowing the disbelievers to rape our Nation in the holiest of venues.

The enemy will shout, yell and scream

But I will continue to let my heart beam

For I have put my worries behind my nation’s,

Preparing myself to leave all of life’s stations,

Even if it means that I fight and die,

Without saying goodbye.

Mother, I want to be above all of the strife,

So please excuse me, O love of my life.

The Lofty Virtues of Shahadah

In the Saheeh Muslim, from Mashruq rahimahullah, said: “We asked Abdullah about this verse (QS. Ali Imran: 169)”  He answered, “it so happens that we asked (the Prophet sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) about this issue, thus he answered:  “Verily, the arwah of the Shuhada’s are in the insides of green birds having lanterns suspended from the Throne, roaming freely in Paradise where they please, then taking shelter in those lanterns. So their Lord cast a glance at them (1) and said: ‘Do you wish for anything?’ They said: ‘What shall we wish for when we roam freely in Paradise where we please?’ And thus did He do to them three times. When they say that they would not be spared from being asked [again], they said: ‘O Lord, we would like for You to put back our souls into our bodies so that we might fight for Your sake once again.’ And when He saw that they were not in need of anything they were let be.” (HR. Muslim) Imam al-Darimi in his sunan narrated from Mashruq, he said: “we have asked Abdullah about the arwah of the Shuhada’s. If not because of Abdullah, no one would have told us. He (Abdullah) said: “The arwah of the Shuhada’s are with Allah on Judgement Day inside the belly of green birds. They have lanterns suspended from the ‘Asrh. They fly in Paradise to where ever they want. Then, they return to those lanterns, and their Lord honored them by saying: ‘Do you wish for anything?’ They asnwered: ‘No, except for us to be returned to the world until we are killed (dieshaheed) for the umpteenth time.’ Imam an-Nawawi in Sharh Saheeh Muslim wrote, “. . . when they know that they can ask, they ask so that their souls would be returned to their jasads, to conduct jihad again or to provide their souls for the cause of Allah Ta’ala and enjoy the bliss (of dying) in Allah’s path.” Walahu A’lam

The Shuhada’s ask to be returned to the world, whereas they are already in paradise, to feel the blissfulness of dying in Allah’s cause as Shuhada’s.

Rasulullah sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam had known the blissfulness gained by the Shuhada’. For that reason, he expressed his desires to die in Allah’s cause in his hadith: “By the One in Whose Hand is my life, I love that I should be killed in the way of Allah; then I should be brought back to life and be killed again in His way.” (HR. Al Bukhari) Indeed, death in the way of Allah is not as frightening as people have imagined. They are a lot of hadiths which relate that theShuhada’s do not feel the pain when finding martyrdom, except like that of a pinch. It was said by Rasulullah saallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam“the people who die shaheed do not feel (the pain of) the slaying except like when one amongst you are feeling (the pain of) a pinch.” (HR. Ahmad, At Tirmidzi, An Nasa’i – hadith hasan) Are we still afraid to conduct jihad fie sabilillah and find martyrdom in the way of Allah?
