Egypt journalists praise anti-Israel resistance in Gaza

A group of Egyptian journalists and writers have hailed the resistance of Gazans in the face of Israeli raids, saying all groups in the country should stand by the Palestinians in the besieged territory.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Egyptian journalists and writers voiced their solidarity with the Palestinians living in the war-stricken Gaza Strip, calling on different Egyptian factions to “provide all possible assistance” to the inhabitants of the impoverished coastal sliver.

They also lauded the strength of Palestinian resistance movements in withstanding “the Zionist weapons provided by the West and the US,” calling on the new government in Cairo to play an effective role in supporting the Palestinian cause.

Over 1,700 Palestinians have so far been killed and more than 9,000 wounded since the Israeli military first launched its offensive against the Gaza Strip on July 8.

More than a quarter of Gazans have also been forced out of their homes in the densely-populated enclave.

The Israeli military has not even spared hospitals in its massive aerial and ground raids on Gaza and continues to pound the medical centers which are in desperate need of medicine and equipment.

Palestinian resistance fighters have responded to the Tel Aviv regime’s large-scale aerial and ground raids by firing a barrage of rockets deep into the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories.

Despite pressure from the world public opinion, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said the regime will continue its offensive on the impoverished Gaza Strip, adding, “We will take as much time as necessary, and will exert as much force as needed.”
